Yate Town Council Marks Another Successful St George’s Celebration at Yate Heritage Centre

Yate Town Council is pleased to announce the success of this year’s St George’s event, which took place on Saturday 25th April 2026 at Yate Heritage Centre.

Welcoming more than 1,000 attendees, the celebration brought together residents of all ages for a lively day filled with heritage, entertainment and community connection.

Councillor Cheryl Kirby said  This was such a delightful and enjoyable day, with lots of visitors coming along to see all the various activities, have a look at all exhibitions and displays, and try out different skills. Our visitors were very complimentary about the event, which Yate Town Council is pleased to receive.’

Visitors enjoyed a diverse programme of performances that captured the spirit of the occasion, including music from Dodington Parish Band and the U3A Ukelele Group, dragon themed crafts from our local Hong Kong community, and an engaging live re-enactment of St George and the dragon by Guarderobe. All the acts added to the festive atmosphere, creating an enjoyable experience for all who attended.

Yate Town Council would like to express sincere thanks to the dedicated volunteers at Yate Heritage Centre, whose efforts ensured the smooth-running of the day. Appreciation is also extended to those who contributed cakes and tombola prizes, helping to enhance both the enjoyment and fundraising success of the event. Special thanks go to our community partners, Hobbs House Bakery and Morrisons, for their kind donations.

We are always keen to welcome new stallholders and performers to future events at Yate Heritage Centre. If you’re interested in getting involved, please get in touch and be part of these vibrant and inclusive community celebrations.
