Peg Hill Public Consultation – Open Now!

When Yate Town Council built and opened Peg Hill Skateboard and BMX Park in 2001, it was ahead of its time in providing such a unique, modern and pioneering sports space for the community, with design features such as the below-ground bowl, drawing in skate and BMX professionals and enthusiasts from all over the world.

Now after 23 years of success, Yate Town Council is focused on the future of Peg Hill and invites  everyone to have their say on what they want from this facility, for current users and future generations.

Yate Town Council maintains the following parks and open spaces in Yate.

All Town Council play areas are revamped and enhanced on a rolling programme.   

Regular Safety Surveys

Yate Town Council regularly inspects play equipment and has annual independent safety surveys of all play equipment, in order to maintain a high standard of service provision.

Thanks to a sterling effort by our retiring Deputy Town Clerk & Responsible Finance Officer, Stephanie Davies, in gathering all of the information, we have launched an Explore Yate Booklet, giving a guided tour of play areas, parks and open spaces.  This contains interesting facts about Yate that you may not have heard and there is also a quiz that you can enter.

Mayors Bear Trail

Do you have what it takes to crack the code? Inside our play areas the Mayor’s Bear has hidden a letter, can you collect them all to reveal the secret word?

To inspire families to explore the amazing facilities Yate Town Council has to offer we invite you to download and discover the Mayor’s Bear Trail, a map of 14 play areas, hidden within are 14 letters to collect and combine to reveal the Mayor’s Bear’s secret word! Sports Facilities

Yate Town Council has a number of sports facilities available to hire including:

  • Bowling Green (Sunnyside)
  • Football Pitches (The Common)
  • Tennis Courts (Sunnyside)
  • Sunnyside Pavilion
  • Yate Outdoor Sports Complex (YOSC)

Use and Hire of Parks & Open Spaces

If you would like to use any of our parks or open spaces for a small event  to promote your community group or supply information to park users then  please follow the below checklist;

  • Let us know of any large planned events or activities within the park so that we are aware and make sure that there aren’t other things going on. (NB: this isn’t suggested for smaller activities or events, especially those which are often repeated) Contact us by: [email protected] 01454 866506 or click here to visit our ‘Contact us’ page.
  • Proselytising is not permitted in our parks and open spaces without prior consent, we will designated a given space in order to balance quiet enjoyment of other users of the same space. Please get in touch with us in touch to discuss consent ( contact details above)
  • There is no permit or cost involved however if a community group notifies us of a large event  (e.g. such as  Brass Band or large choir wishing to perform in the park, we do have a short form to capture any particular requirements (eg, if vehicular access is required and if so, necessary risk assessments).
