The postholder will be a community heritage specialist, providing professional leadership and expertise in heritage engagement, collections care, interpretation, exhibitions and education.

The postholder will play a vital role in shaping and delivering YTC’s vision for heritage and culture, helping to build purposeful and meaningful community relationships that enable YTC to inspire audiences through heritage and culture, and help to drive the growth of our heritage and culture programme and secure transformational support for an ambitious learning programme for our community to enjoy.
To ensure the effective strategic and operational management of Yate Town Council (YTC) heritage and culture venues and sites. This will involve managing and striving to continuously improve Yate and District Heritage Centre (YHC) along with other YTC heritage and cultural sites, and will also involve supporting YTC to develop and continually review a strategic vision for Town Council heritage and cultural services and assets, to ensure the community is engaged meaningfully and to attract external funds.

The Pop Inn Cafe (over 50s)
The Pop Inn Cafe is a community café designed for users over 50. The café has had great success over the years and has been seen many people drawn in by the light interior, peaceful atmosphere and the friendly volunteer staff.

Based at the Pop Inn Cafe, the Memory Cafe takes place on the first Friday of every month (1.30pm – 3pm). You’ll make a big difference to those with dementia and their carers by lending a listening ear, making a few brews or join in with an activity.
We are currently at full capacity for volunteers for the Memory Cafe. Please keep checking our website for updates on when volunteering opportunities for this event are available.
Yate and District Heritage Centre is a fully accredited museum which, as part of Yate Town Council, serves all our local community. Yate and District Heritage Centre is a dynamic facility devoted to serving the local area. To sustain progress and remain effective, volunteers are always needed to take part in history projects and help staff the building.
