At Yate Town Council’s Annual Town Council Meeting held on Tuesday 12th May 2026, Councillor Ray Perry was elected as Mayor and Chair, and Councillor John Ford elected as Vice-Chair and Deputy Mayor.
Councillor Ray Perry said:
It is a great honour and privilege to be chosen as Yate’s Mayor and Yate Town Council’s Chair for the next 12 months. It is my intention to perform my duties to the best of my ability. I extend thanks to Councillors Aziz Chowdhry and Alan Monaghan for their diligence and commitments over the last year as Mayor and Vice-Mayor. I look forward to working with Councillor John Ford and my fellow councillors over the coming year.
Ray was elected to the Town Council in 2023 and John, in 2002, having served as Chair between 2017-2019. Between them, they bring both experience and new ideas. As they step into their roles, both Ray and John are looking forward to attending a number of events throughout the year as well as meeting local community groups and residents. They warmly welcome residents to attend our upcoming music festival, Yate Rocks! in Kingsgate Park on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June 2026 as well as the Yate Ageing Better Festival, in Yate Shopping Centre, on Wednesday 15th July 2026.
