Get ready to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe with a special beacon lighting ceremony hosted by Yate Town Council!
Join us on Thursday 8th May 2025, from 6:30pm at Tylers Field for an unforgettable evening.
The D-Day Dollies will transport you back in time with the sounds of the era, while the Bristol Military Wives Choir will fill the air with their beautiful harmonies. The 1st Yate Boys Brigade marching band will add a touch of tradition and pageantry to the evening and prepare to be moved by the stirring melodies of the Wiltshire Piper as we take a moment to reflect on this important historical milestone. It’s going to be a night to remember!
Indulge in classic fish and chips, savory pizza, or refreshing ice cream from our fantastic onsite vendors. Don’t forget your picnic blankets, chairs and torches.
Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to honor the legacy of VE Day and enjoy a wonderful evening with your community!
Just a few things to keep in mind for your visit to Tylers Field. The site is a mown field with some slopes and uneven bits. Accessibility is limited because of the terrain so it’s worth checking beforehand if you have any concerns about accessibility.
There is no parking available at the site so please be mindful of the residents who live nearby. If you can, why not walk, cycle or travel by bus!
Tylers Field is a nature area so let’s keep it beautiful by taking our rubbish home with us.
Further details including the evening programme can be found on the Yate Town Council Website: https://yatetowncouncil.gov.uk/yate/things-to-do/ve-day-80 We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
We are also on the lookout for photos. If you have any photos of your family members or friends dated around 1940s which you would be happy to share, please email [email protected] by Sunday 4th May 2025.
