Yate Ageing Better Press Release + Picture Flipbook

From singing to pilates, tai chi to cream tea, Yate Ageing Better Festival 2023 had it all – and we hope you had a blast!

Stall holders, community spirit and the sunshine warmly welcomed crowds of visitors to the free annual celebration of ageing, hosted by Yate Town Council and friends, on Wednesday 19th July.

Joyous singing from local choirs filled the air; free performances and activities, including exercise classes, had us in and out of our seats; free goodies and alfresco dining for £3.50 at the Pop Inn Café ensured all could join in with the festival spirit!

A variety of community groups and projects were promoted and life-changing connections were made. Strolling from stall-to-stall, visitors had an abundance of friendly conversations and took away information, advice and guidance on topics such as health and wellbeing, social clubs, community activities, mobility, sustainable travel, fire safety, Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Mayor and chair of Yate Town Council, Councillor Cheryl Kirby, said:

It was truly touching to see so many people come together in support of this special event. The festival is only in its 3rd year, and it has quickly become an occasion that the Council and its friends are proud to provide. We hope the festival continues to grow, and that our visitors and participants were inspired by all the wonderful activities and services that are available for ageing better in Yate and South Gloucestershire.

Yate Town Council would like to give a special thank you to Yate Shopping Centre, Yate Active Lifestyle Centre, and to the wonderful volunteers at the Pop Inn Café, as this event would not have been possible without their support and generosity.
