There are public rights of way all over Yate, crisscrossing the town north to south and east to west. These rights of way date back hundreds of years and are still used by people to go about their business or for leisure purposes. Walks in and around Yate
If you enjoy a walk, you will find there are several pleasant walks in and around Yate. The Town Council has produced walkway leaflets about walks within the local area which you can download in our Local Walking and Cycling Leaflets section. Also available to download in that section are a series of 4 circular walk leaflets linking Churches in the parishes, produced by the Joint Parishes 6 Churches Walk Project Group (Dodington, Sodbury, Westerleigh and Yate).
New Woodland Paths Planned
There are also some very pleasant walks though the Ridge Woods and the Town Council is planning to create new sections of footpath to allow users to enjoy more of the woodland.

Frome Valley Walkway
The Frome Valley Walkway is a popular walking route, following the River Frome from Old Sodbury, through Chipping Sodbury and Yate. The Walkway carries on towards Iron Acton and beyond to Bristol. The Jubilee Way
Another well known route is The Jubilee Way, devised in 1985 to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Ramblers Association. The Jubilee Way links the Severn Way to the Cotswold Way and enters the Parish of Yate to the north of Yate Rocks, taking walkers through fields to Brimsham Park and then across to Sodbury Common. There are also footpaths around The Common, some of which suit wheelchair users and pushchairs. Southwold Ramblers
Southwold Ramblers is the local group of the Ramblers Association based in Yate, which works with both Yate Town Council and South Gloucestershire Council on maintaining rights of way in the area. Southwold members assist with path surveying, clearances and way marking. The group has a programme of regular walks, in the local area and further afield.
