Yate Town Council welcomes National Association of Local Councils (NALC) to Yate

On Tuesday 21st May & Wednesday 22nd May 2024, Yate Town Council hosted the National Association of Local Council’s (NALC) annual study tour.

Each year NALC asks a local council to host a two-day event showcasing a chosen aspect of their council.

Yate Town Council’s study tour was all about youth engagement and Yate’s youth portfolio.  Delegates took part in an interactive walking and minibus bus tour to various youth facilities on offer in Yate. The tour began at Poole Court with a look at the Urbie detached youth work bus, then went onto the Armadillo Youth Café, followed by visits to Kingsgate Park, Abbotswood, Peg Hill Skateboard & BMX Park, various kickabout areas and ending at Yate Outdoor Sports Complex (YOSC).

On the second day, delegates met with some of Yate Town Council’s partner organisations, including South Gloucestershire Council & Learning Partnership West, who both gave presentations highlighting innovative strategies in youth engagement.

Chris Borg from NALC said it was a fantastic visit at ‘one of the strongest town councils I think study visit delegates have seen over the last 18 years of Study Tours’
