New Cycle Route Planned

As part of the Cycling City Initiative, a new Yate ‘spur’ is planned which will link Yate to Emersons Green. The Yate and Mangotsfield Greenway route for cyclists and pedestrians is one of the key routes in the Cycling City project. It will link Yate and surrounding villages and towns like Chipping Sodbury and Westerleigh to Bristol and Bath and Emersons Green.

The route will follow the route of the historic railway though some areas that are currently inaccessible or overgrown and will allow residents and visitors the chance to experience nature that is right on their doorstep but currently impossible to reach.

Joint Parishes Cycleway Committee

The Joint Parishes Cycleway Committee works with South Gloucestershire Council to improve facilities for cyclists within the local area.

The group is comprised of representatives from Yate Town Council, neighbouring parish and town councils and representatives from the Cyclists Tourist Club and meets approximately four times a year to discuss cycling issues.
