Following the Prime Minister’s address to the nation on 23rd March 2020 ( and subsequent guidance), Yate Town Council has made the following decisions:
Yate Town Council is now operating with the majority of staff working from home, our intention is to provide the best service possible in these exceptional circumstances.
Offices, Buildings and Facilities
To immediately close all Council offices; Poole Court, The Armadillo, Yate Heritage Centre.
Please use the below contact details to contact the Town Council:

We have also immediately closed all our venues.
We are currently unable to give a firm date when the venues will reopen. If however, in the meantime, you wish to make a provisional booking in advance of the lifting of regulations, we are more than happy for you to do so and we will keep you informed along the way. We will only raise an invoice for the booking once confirmed with both parties.
In the meantime, stay safe and well and we look forward to hearing from you if you wish to make a future booking.
Events & Meetings
We have taken the decision to cancel/postpone some of our upcoming events following the national escalation of COVID-19. The health and safety of our residents, visitors and staff is our priority and we feel that this is the right decision.
Yate Town Council meetings are being held digitally and links to these meetings are posted with the agenda 1 week before the meeting takes place.
Parks and Play Areas
Each play area and outdoor gym will have a maximum number of users who can be in the area at any one time, as specified on signage at the entrances to each site. Please do not enter the site if it is at capacity.
Although the Town Council will carry out routine maintenance, we cannot guarantee cleanliness of equipment in regards to COVID-19 transmissions so use of equipment is at the users own risk. We strongly encourage you to bring and use hand sanitiser and on returning home, to wash your hands.
We hope you enjoy using our sites but please remember to be considerate to other site users and members of YTC staff.

Yate Heritage Centre
From 13 July our Yate Heritage Centre team will begin preparing our services and facilities for gradual reopening to the public in the coming months. In the meantime they have digital exhibitions and an entire KIDS ZONE crammed with fun family activities on social media for you to enjoy.
Yate Heritage Centre – Kids Zone Facebook Page
Here at Yate Heritage Centre, we want to do our part to support children and young people, parents, carers and teachers through this period of school closures by bringing you high-quality educational materials to use at home or in the classroom.
We will focus on history but will sometimes include other bits and bobs that we hope might be useful.
Please note, we will do our very best to make sure that all materials shared are suitable for children, but when using the internet, it is really important that parents, carers and teachers check material out first to make sure it is appropriate.
A note on home-schooling: at this time, we know that lots of parents and carers are feeling overwhelmed with the prospect of teaching in such altered circumstances. Many will also be balancing working from home, caring for other children and many other responsibilities. The materials we share are designed to support you, not overwhelm you. Nobody expects parents to become star teachers overnight. Any education work you do with your children is something to be proud oF.
At this time, we are all trying our best in a new and strange situation and that is good enough!
Detached Youth Work
From 6 July, youth teams from the Armadillo, Brimsham Youth Wing, St Nix Abbotswood and the Urbie will be out in the community. If you don’t see them out and about they still have plenty of great things happening online; head over to Yate Youth or Yate Armadillo to contact the teams and see what they’ve been up to.
Green Community Travel
Green Community Travel have updated their passenger leaflet to give information on ways they are adhering to social distancing guidlines.
