Yate Town Council’s ‘Relaxed Museum’ Goes On Tour!

Yate Town Council took ‘Relaxed Museum’ on tour, to Senior Cinema at Armadillo Youth Café.

Relaxed Museum is a health and wellbeing project hosted by Yate Heritage Centre, that offers visitors who need a less formal museum experience an opportunity to take part and enjoy heritage, arts and culture activities. It is suitable for people of all ages with a variety of needs, but it is especially great for those with additional needs and cognitive conditions such as dementia.

Over 75 residents aged 50+ enjoyed their usual cinema session and breakfast treat alongside some fascinating WWII handling objects and conversation with experts from Yate Heritage Centre, discussing all things local heritage including the underground WWII First Aid Post on Station Road, which opened to the public for D-Day in June this year, for the first time since the bombing of the factory site in 1941.

Relaxed Museum sessions take place at Yate Heritage Centre the last Thursday of the month 1pm-4pm. We’re looking for more locations to tour and to share our collections with new people, so if you are a community setting, group or service in the parish of Yate, please get in touch with our team!
