Yate Town Council is reopening the Warm Welcome for a second year, on 2nd October 2023. Open until 30th March 2024, the Town Council and its community partners are offering a variety of warm and welcoming places across Yate, for residents to drop-in and use throughout the colder, winter months. Completely free of charge, this service aims to support those who may be adversely impacted by the cost-of-living increases – in particular, rising energy costs.
The Town Council will produce a guide to Warm Welcome places in Yate, which will be available on its website www.yatetowncouncil.gov.uk. Information on warm spaces in other areas can be found at www.warmwelcome.uk.
Yate Town Council Chair, Councilor Cheryl Kirby said:
“Warm Welcome is a great example of community organisations working hand in hand with the Town Council to support residents of Yate and surrounding parishes in a practical way during winter. There is a superb range of free activities and facilities in Yate on offer in the Warm Welcome Guide, to ensure that everyone in the community can benefit from warm community spaces, in this continuing difficult economic climate. We have a great range of venues opening their doors to people over the winter and all of them will be offering a warm, inviting space to relax and unwind. In many cases there will also be free hot drinks, and perhaps a biscuit as well!”
Warm Welcome is available from 2nd October 2023 until 30th March 2024.
