Kids Take Over Yate Museum!

This November, kids take over Yate Heritage Centre to create a new art exhibition!

Children from three primary schools are creating an art exhibition for Yate Heritage Centre. They will be designing and making artwork, as well as deciding how to display their work in the gallery for a public exhibition.

The Heritage Centre will also invite children from Yate to create artwork for the exhibition, during October half-term “Stay and Play” workshops, taking place 29-31 October and 1 November (follow us on Facebook to find out more).

For the national event “Kids in Museums Takeover”, cultural places across the country are taken over by children and young people, who learn about the important roles of museums, galleries, historic homes, archives and heritage sites, and share their ideas for the future of culture. Since Kids in Museums launched Takeover Day in 2010, with support from Arts Council England and countless culture hubs in England, over 40,000 children and young people have taken part.

Yate Heritage Centre and Yate Town Council are passionate about including children and young people in our work.  We are very excited for them to take over Yate Heritage Centre and let their imaginations fill the gallery!
