Deputy Mayor of Yate, Councillor Aziz Chowdhry and Councillor Alan Monaghan visited the dedicated volunteers at Cotswold Vale Talking Newspaper on Friday 24th January 2025 , bringing more than just good wishes โ€“ they delivered a ยฃ200 grant from Yate Town Council.

This grant is specifically earmarked to purchase a USB duplicating machine, directly supporting Cotswold Valeโ€™s core mission of providing accessible information to visually impaired residents of Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire. Each week, the volunteers of Cotswold Vale Talking Newspaper diligently record local news and stories from the Gazette and other publications, offering a vital link to their communities. Furthermore, their quarterly magazine, Kaleidoscope, delivers captivating seasonal content and local interviews.

Mary Moss, a volunteer for the Talking Newspaper said:โ€ Volunteers at the Cotswold Vale Talking Newspaper were delighted to receive a visit from Deputy Mayor, Councillor Aziz Chowdhry and Councillor Alan Monaghan last week. They arrived just in time to see exactly how we record the news for the visually impaired and disabled listeners around Yate, Chipping Sodbury and the surrounding villages. Our studio is a very important part of our operation. Generous grants like the one received from Yate Town Council are vital for us to be able to provide our listeners with news and information about their community and keep them involved. We would like to thank Yate Town Council for its continuing support and encouragement to help us to do this.โ€
