Today marked a momentous occasion in Yate as Mayor of Yate, Cllr Ben Nutland, visited local war hero, Leonard Trewin, to honour him on his 100th birthday.
Mr. Trewin, a former member of the parachute regiment who served his country during World War Two, was presented with a bouquet of flowers from the Mayor, who extended warm wishes on behalf of the town.
The Mayor expressed the town’s gratitude for Mr. Trewin’s service and inquired about the secret to his longevity. With a twinkle in his eye, Mr. Trewin revealed, “A glass of red wine!” His response was met with smiles and laughter from all in attendance.
“It is a privilege to celebrate such a significant milestone with Mr. Trewin. Itโs not every day you get to meet a war hero” said Mayor Nutland. “The people of Yate are proud to honour him today and always.”
